The Sixth Form Chromebook Programme, launched in September 2015, is one of the first such educational projects in the West Midlands. Our Sixth Form students are now equipped with the latest technology at their fingertips. Google Chromebooks have allowed teachers at the Academy to combine highly effective traditional approaches to education with modern technology, and this in turn creates highly engaging learning experiences through Google. Teachers now use ‘Google Classroom’ to collaborate with students, allowing for timely feedback on how to improve their work. Students speak highly of the programme, stating that they feel empowered to take ownership of their learning. They are delighted that they can access resources for their courses throughout the Academy site from their own Chromebook on a daily basis and can then continue to study using their Chromebook at home. Learning is now within their control and they can continue to learn anytime anywhere! Erasmus Darwin Academy Sixth now feels like a thriving business environment, helping to get the Sixth Form students ready for university or industry. Sixth Form destinations at the Academy include Oxford and Cambridge and Russell Group universities; results in 2015 were impressive, and we aim for even higher achievement in future.
